Oncology Treatment Hospital in India
Oncology is the study of cancer. An oncologist is a doctor who treats cancer. They have special training in diagnosing and treating cancer in adults using chemotherapy, hormonal therapy, biological therapy, and targeted therapy. A medical oncologist often is the main health care provider for someone who has been diagnosed with cancer.
The field of oncology has three major areas:
A medical oncologist treats cancer using chemotherapy or other medications, such as targeted therapy.
A surgical oncologist removes a tumour and nearby tissue during an operation. He or she also performs certain types of biopsies.
A radiation oncologist treats cancer using radiation therapy.
Surgical oncology is a specialized area of oncology that engages surgeons in the care and management of cancer. Surgeons have traditionally treated cancer patients with resection and radical surgeries of tumours and left the management of cancer and the patient to other specialists.
