  • A Patient Mr Shaikh, 19/male, Came To The Dental Department Of Inamdar Hospital With Severe Pain With His Upper Right Lateral Incisor.

  • Patient History Was Noted, He Had Never Sustained Any Trauma With Concerned Tooth On Examination A Deep Palatal Pit Was Noted With The Upper Right Lateral Tooth, No Signs Of Decay Or Fracture Seen

  • An Intra Oral X Ray Was Taken Which Showed Nothing Significant, Thus Patient Was Sent For A Cbct With The Concerned Area.

  • Cbct Showed Findings Suggestive Of A Condition Known As Dens In Dente. It Also Showed Periodontal Widening And Signs Of Internal Root Resorption With The Tooth

  • Dens In Dente  – Is A Rare Dental Anomaly Also Known As Dens Invaginatus In Which The Outer Enamel Layer Of Tooth Folds Into The Dentinal Layer Of Tooth, Which Is  Generally Present Below The Enamel, During Tooth Development. This Results In A Tooth Within A Tooth Appearance

  • In This Case, After Confirming The Diagnosis, Root Canal Treatment Was Done Under Antibiotic Cover And Intracanal Calcium Hydroxide Was Placed.

X Ray Image2 & 3: IMAGES SHOWING  WORKING LENGTH DETERMINATION & INTRACANAL CALCIUM HYDROXIDE PLACED RESPECTIVELY

Tooth Was Obturated And Composite Filling Was Done 10 Days Later.
